Cottage Dormer
Dormer loft conversion in a beautiful 150 year old single-story barn.
Details
Install two bedrooms
Oak staircase
Oxted, Surrey

Project Info
The former tractor barn had been converted into a two-bedroom bungalow in the ’70s.
Usually, a loft conversion can be installed under permitted development.
However, this property had a clause in the title deeds which removed permitted development rights, so full planning permission was sought.
By converting the hip end into a gable, and adding two large dormer windows, there was space for two reasonable sized bedrooms, plus storage space in the remaining loft.
The door to the living room had to be repositioned, in order to create space for a new oak staircase.
